Sandblasting

These are some granite tiles I sandblasted for a Military Ball here in Houston next weekend. Still have one I'm working on, but these are all hand cut then sandblasted by me. Sure wish I could have used my Cricut or my Make the Cut software. Bummer. Anyway, they are delivered and hopefully will bring them lots of money. God Bless America!!

Creating Celtic Cage Earrings Chain Maille

Well, I spent most of the day with a great friend and we tried to figure out the pattern for these earrings. After about 2 1/2 hours later we each had a pair. I couldn't get a good picture of the pair but I did get one so imagine a pair of them. Now that we have the design figured out we could probably get the time down by a bit. We had to cut some jump rings and do a bit of adjusting. But boy they are nice. I see a lot of possibilities with this pattern. Hope you like them.

I'm gonna be Demoing the Cricut

Hi everyone,
Exciting news!!!. I have taken a job demoing the cricut at The Micheal's at Willowbrook. I will be flying out Friday for training. It all came about so quickly. One of my meetup group ladies posted and I called and got interviewed right there and then. Had my second interview last night via phone. I got a call today that they were extending me an offer and i filled out all the paperwork and now have a job demoing the Cricut machine every Sunday except Mother's day at the Micheal's at Willowbrook. From May thru June.

I'm very excited.

More when I know more.

I didn't fall off the face of the earth.

I'm back. I didn't fall off the face of the earth. I know it may seem like it. I had a very rough February. Put my back out, held a SWARM, wheels stolen from my Tahoe, and I was also host a meeting for our lampworking group at my house 32 people. March has been pretty good so far. Thank goodness. I got a scholarship to the Gathering (a lampworking event) I'm preparing for our Annual Hottie"s Auction (lampworking group) I am the President, I took a kiln glass class, I've been sandblasting and making beads. Plus just regular everyday life. So I am SWAMPED needless to say. I have been trying to get a weekend SWARM set up. A little harder then that sounds. Working on another day SWARM. I have been using my expression though, does that count for scrapbooking? I thought not. Dang!!!

I'm trying, but here are some of the things I have created this last couple weeks. The Window with the pink sheet behind it is some of my sandblasting. That was what I used my cricut on. I used Blackletter for the font. The others are from a glass class I took here in Houston at Hot Glass Houston.
hope you enjoy the pictures.

I. C. E. In Case of Emergency

Okay, this should have posted this the other day. Typed it all out and didn't check to see that it went through.

On Feb 20, 2010 at the Houston SWARM we had a young lady who had a seizure. No one knew her, she was someone who we had met through the message board. We were playing a game. "Chinese gift exchange" and she was the first to go. We jokingly had told her to sit cause it was gonna be a long wait we had 30+ people at the SWARM. She sits and we draw a couple more names, all of the sudden she shakes and then her legs go straight out and she has a violent seizure. falls from the chair and hits her head on the floor. We immediately called 911. By the grace of God we had a last minute fill in at the SWARM who ended up being a registered nurse. God bless our SWARM NURSE Kim. Anyway, I get her wallet and then we got her cell phone. Kathy called the last number dialed and left a message. Since I had this phone at one time I knew how to find contacts so I scroll through. I couldn't find an ICE number. I did find dad though and called and spoke to her father. He said she had no history of seizures and gave me her husbands number. I called him, let him know what was going on. The ambulance arrived and took her to the hospital which is like 2 to 3 blocks from the Clubhouse. Very sobering experience for the whole group. Everyone was talking and unfortunately not many had ICE in their phones. I am pretty sure they all do know. I know I do know. 1st contacts that pull up. This really is an important reminder. Real eye opener for the whole group.

Update on Lynda: She had all sorts of test done. She was released from the hospital with 5 stitches in her hairline, a black eye and a bitten tongue. She is not allowed to drive for 6 months per Texas law. She has had no history of seizures and hopefully this will never happen again, but they have to be sure.

So, please put ICE in your phone for me.
Hugs,
Have a wonderful today and a fantastic tomorrow.

SWARM countdown

Well we are just days away from the SWARM. Well, 23 to be exact. Paper flying, cricut humming, scissors getting lost. I always misplace my scissors. I have 9 pairs in my craft room and I can never find one. Anyway, I still can't post any pictures of cricut stuff because they can't know. We have a full house. Some guest celebrities. So many demos your head will swim. The door prizes. DANG, I think I out did myself this time. Just kidding, but we do have some great door prizes. I'm working on the letter that will be mailed out hopefully tomorrow afternoon. If not, Saturday morning. Just wanted to check in and update the blog and tell you if you didn't make this SWARM, you had better figure out how to make the next one cause I'm already getting request for spot reservations for the next one. Kinda wild.

Hope you have a fantastic night and a wonderful tomorrow.

I may be on the Message Board to much

I was trying to do some work for the SWARM. I left for a second to go get a drink and came back to this. I think the poor thing may be feeling a little neglected. I have been a little swamped with the Swarm and my new position as President of the Hotties (Lampworking group) and all of this construction at my house. Guess she needs a little mom time. By the way this is Callaway, she is my baby. She's 5 1/2 years old. West Highland Terrier (Westie) she is my sweetie. A mommas girl all the way.
Have a wonderful day.

Can't Sleep

Well, I should be sleeping. It is 2:45 am here in Houston and I am wide awake. I can't create. My mind won't shut off long enough for me to sleep. I have a SWARM coming up soon and apparently I am thinking about it way to much. Anyway, I hadn't posted for a couple days, so I thought I had better. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Have a fantastic Sunday. Enjoy your family and friends and smile ALOT!!!

They are here!!! 8 new cartridges

I got a whole bunch of mail yesterday. It was like Christmas all over again. I had ordered 6 cartridges from Terri (Stampsalive) or TerriKrafts on the message board. I won one on ebay from one seller, and then one from Proudparents2005, then a couple days later won another one from Proudparents2005. So needless to say I got a lot of cartridges in the mail. I'm gonna open them tomorrow and see about getting them and my reward points registered. There are 2 cartridges on the rewards I don't have. Maybe I'll order them. I believe this put me at or just over 100 cartridges. Guess I need to count.

Maybe I'll get a project created this week.

Have a great day and a wonderful tomorrow.

My cricut area. Disney and frogs. Oh my!

Well, I cleaned in my scrap room a little today, but the big thing I got done today was hanging some of my Disney pictures. I have also taken some pictures of my cartridge shelf. That is not my whole collection, but it is a lot of them. As you can tell I collect, Kitty's Critter frogs, Disney stuff, Cricut cartridges and lots of supplies. Still got a lot of work to do in here but slowly but surely it will get done. Also, took a picture of my $15 clearance chandelier I got at Home Depot.

Let me know what you think. Lots of pictures. Oh and my Expression.

Have a great night tonight and a wonderful tomorrow.

Crafting - Well Sandblasting anyway

Well, yet another day nothing Cricut related created. SAD. I did however craft today. I Sandblasted a 4 foot s 1 1/2 foot piece of glass for a custom built home. The weather is horrible for this right now, but they need it to finish up. I will hopefully be able to deliver it tomorrow or Thursday.
I will post a picture once I get all the sandblast resist off. What a mess. I truly love sandblasting though. Well pretty much anything with glass.

Hope you all have a wonderful tomorrow.

Gotta finish this Christmas Card, My sister - in -law and I are doing 10 Christmas cards per month to make sure we have all of our cards done by Thanksgiving this year. Want to join us? Come on you can do it. It is only 10 cards a month.

Lunch with a cricuteer today

Well, I did something cricut related today. I went and met one of my friends from the SWARMS for lunch. We ate sushi and talked about all sorts of cricut stuff and just had a blast. We even got a free desert because they say I'm there everyday. So totally not true. I was there Thursday, Friday, Sunday Monday and I'll be back on Thursday. I didn't go out there on Saturday. Anyway, I had a great time and loved my lunch. Thank you Susan!!! I can tell you that I have made some really great friends doing SWARMS and doing the cricut message board. I am very thankful for that.
Anyway, cleaning tomorrow and better get some sleep.

Sweet dreams and have a wonderful tomorrow.

Hugs,
Lori

The day flew by

Not one cricut thing done today, well, technically that is not true. I worked on SWARM stuff. It is getting closer. We have just over a month and 2 weeks till the big event. I have a surprise for everyone. I'm not telling till after the SWARM. If you want to know you have to come to the SWARM.

At lunch with my oldest son today. We had a great time. He helped me do a few things and then went home. I enjoyed my day with him though. Still not use to the empty nest. They moved out together so it has been kinda weird. They are only a little over 2 miles away, but still. Anyway!!

What does tomorrow hold? Who knows, but the way my year is going so far it will be amazing.
2010 is turning into the best year.

My fortune cookie on New Years eve said "In the coming year every thing you touch will turn to gold" something along those line, I couldn't quote exactly cause I got preoccupied and left it on the table. When I went back, they had already cleaned the table. I'd have had that puppy framed. Not taking any chance I ate my black eyed peas and coleslaw on New Year's Day.

hopefully something cricut related to post tomorrow. But I am keeping up the blog and that is a sign of progress. Baby steps - baby steps.

Night all. and have a wonderful tomorrow.

They are here. TerriKraft ROCKS!!!

Well, I stalked the mail lady on Thursday, she didn't have my package. (I think she was playing with them at home over the holiday, she's a scrapbooker) but today, my three little babies showed up. Easter 2010. Love Struck 2010, and Mother's Day 2010. TerriKrafts on the message board totally rocks. here is her blogspot. http://www.stampsalive.blogspot.com/
I have done pre-orders from others before and been so disappointed, but not with Terri, I have done 3 pre-orders and am just as happy as can be. She keeps you well informed and is super quick to ship as soon as she gets the items. Plus she's always letting you know via the messageboard what's going on. Who could ask for more. Did I mention she totally rocks!!!!?

Anyway, back to the babies,
Love struck has some 3d objects, pretty cool. One is a mail box the other a box like a sweetheart box (you know the candy ones). There is also a Heart and I guess the last 3d object is an envelope. not sure about that one though. Beautiful hearts there are 27 images on this cartridge. Guess that is why it is a mini.

Then there is Easter, there are 3 d objects on it as well. little baskets and a pillow box? the images are a Cross, rabbits, eggs, lamb, grass, lilies. The chocolate Rabbit with the bite in his ear cracked me up, there are 29 images on this mini.

The Mother's Day. I am kinda disappointed in this one, I bought it for the pinwheel and doilies it has a great baby carriage on it. There are 30 images on this mini

Oh yeah, really liking Make-The-Cut, takes some playing, but liking the ease of use. Check out the videos on YouTube for more info..

I'm suppose to be getting my other 6 cartridges from Terri after this coming Wednesday. They were $38.00 plus actual shipping. See I told you. She totally ROCKS!!!

I am not affiliated with Terri in anyway, but I do believe when you get great service you need to let people know. Trust me if I get bad service you'll know that as well. But don't get me started on Memory Miser. BOOOOO HISSSS

Januaray 1, 2010

Well, the New Year is here. I am so excited. I spent the day helping out a friend. Then a little lampworking and a bit of business stuff. I played with my new program a bit. Make the Cut seems to be a great program, but I still have alot to learn. I got an email saying my new cartridges should be shippied next Tuesday. Yes!!! I bought Heritage, Elmos' Party, Serenade, Song Bird, Tie the Knot and Forever Young. I also have Batman coming from another seller. Plus my three spring mini's should be here tomorrow. Waiting for a better deal on Superman. I am close to breaking 100 cartridges. I'm gonna get a couple others with my rewards. there isn't many on there I don't already own.

I will admit I have a problem. I now own a baby bug, Expression, Gypsy, Sure-Cuts-Alot, Make the Cut and 98 (I think) cartridges. Guess I better get them all registered. Better add that to my list to do.

I'm going to do a cricut project tomorrow so stay tuned.

Have a fantastic weekend and enjoy this beautiful New Year.
